Hong Kong Trip Part 4

The previous nite was for us to pack our stuffs before we headed back to SG. It was lots of things to check.

I also managed to meet up my HK friends, Ben and Mel to have a chat at one of the cafes near the hotel. It was really nice to have met up with them. To get some updates from them as well. Thanks mates.

This is our last day in Hong Kong. We went to visit the Peak and it extremely cold.... It was a nice panoramic view of the whole Hong Kong skyline. It was very beautiful.

After that, we went to visit the beach and later Shirley town. After that, we went for lunch there.
Before we headed to the airport, we went for the last mins shopping.

Around 5 plus, we departed to the airport.... unfortunately, we have found out that our plane has been delayed for three hrs... gosh.... we have no choice but to wait for it. So we have our dinner in the airport. We also bought some HK products back to SG. The Lao Boi Bang and also almond biscuits.

Finally our plane arrived in HK at 8pm and we were able to get on it by 9.45pm. Our plane was delayed a bit for ppl who were transiting... so we left HK airport at 11pm. It was really a tired one as I see many of the members were already sleeping.

At last, we touched down in SG at around 2.30am. The logistics team went first to get the instruments and luggage. After everything has claimed, we went straight to take the coach and upload the instruments to the truck. Off we went back to school.

This was the end of the HK trip. I really enjoyed myself and also knowing some of my friends better in this trip as well. Thanks to all members for that wonderful tour.

Hong Kong Trip Part 3

Day 3 is the day that we went to Ocean Park for our 1st Outdoor performance overseas. We are performing right under the huge Christmas Tree. Quite a number of visitors visiting the Park came to watch us performing. The songs we played were Sousa-The March King, Rocks in the Mountains, What a Wonderful World, Postcard from Singapore, The Hustle, Kokomo, Oteyawarkani (可爱的玫瑰花) and Christmas Fantasia. Overall it is all right... just that the students were quite sad as there were no applause from the audience.... sobs.... unfortunately what I know, the Hong Konger don't chap during outdoor performance. Weird right....

Well, nvm, the Band did well in this performance. After that, we started to pack up and went for the free and easy in the Ocean Park. We went up several escalators and we reached the top of the hill. I went to watch the Dolphins in action at the Ocean Theatre. Later,we went to visit the shark aquarium and also went for the rides. I only tool the Viking with my students. It is fun!! With all the fun, was time for us to go downhill. We went to took the cable car and we saw such beautiful scenery outside... so nice... finally we reached. We missed quite a number of places especially the Grand Prix.

After that we went back to the Back entrance to get our belonging.... from there, we went for dinner and after that, we were treated the laser show at the Victoria Harbour. I could see the stunning Christmas lights decorated in front of business buildings. So nice.... It was a nite that cannot forget.... and it was very cold.

The Hong Kong Trip Part 2

Day 2 of our trip is where we went to a Primary School to have our exchange programme. We went to The Salvation Army Lam Butt Chung Memorial School at Tat Tung Estate, Tung Chung, Lantau Island. The students there are so excited when we played the songs. Later, we have combined with the Primary School Band by playing their school song and March Together... it was interesting one and good experience for everyone. Besides that, the teacher also introduced various types of instruments that the students have not seem before.

After that, we were treated with refreshment and also mingling with both the students and teachers. After the refreshment, we went for the tour around their school. We went into the class to see what the kids are doing and find out that they did what I did when I am in Primary school....

After that, we went out of school to have lunch on our own. The teachers and the instructors have a chance to chat with the conductor. It was a good exchange of experience. I really hope this will be a platform for us to establishing a link with Hong Kong School.
It was time to go back to the school to collect our instruments and also a group photo with the teachers and VP. What a sad leave...

Later, we went to buy something at a warehouse mall. Really lots of things selling at a cheap price.

It was off for dinner and debrief in the hotel. Another tiring day. Ocean Park Performance here we come for the Day 3.

The Hong Kong Trip Part 1

Hey all,
I am going to update to all of you about the HK Trip. I have to reach school at 2.30am on the 17th Dec.... at my surprise, there are already members waiting for me to open the gate.... wow, man they were excited.

The logistics team started the ball rolling by moving all the instruments from the hall down to the foyer to be loaded up to the lorry. It was really a fast one.... after that, I, Tze Huan, Weijian, Ian, Daniel and Hairiandy went up the lorry and we proceed to the airport first. Whereas the rest, they will get on the bus later to meet us there. At last we reached T1, we moved the instruments down to the check-in counter. We are taking the 1st United Airlines flight out to Hong Kong at 0650 hrs. At around 4am, we were allowed to check in our lugguges and instruments.... what a long queue....haha.... everything went smoothly.... God Bless.

After we have checked in, members slowly moved into transit area to clear customs. After that, we took a group photo inside the transit area. Before we moved into the boarding area, we went to get some food at Burger King. After chatting and eating, we moved into the boarding area.... of course u know, have to clear security.... wow, so many steps..... finally, we were off to board the plane.

In the plane, we managed to get breakfast and also watched a movie Evan Almighty. Is really funny. I managed to get some sleep as well.

Within 3 hrs, we have reached HK International Airport T2. I took the logistics team to clear customs first. We took the shuttle train to the immigration area. The train was fast.... after clearing the customs, we all get ready to take the members' luggages from the belt and also the instruments from the oversize luggage area. It was massive. When every member has claimed their luggage and instrument, we went out of the transit area. The tour guides were waving their cards at us... really a superstar like that...haha... from there we hopped on the coaches to the hotel. While going on board the coach, got some problem carrying the crates up, lucky with some thinking, it was up.

For Day 1, the first place we went was the Hong Kong Science Museum. We have learnt a lot of things from Physics and Biology. The most interesting thing in the Science Museum was the Energy Machine. We could see different balls going rolling at different places, making different noises.... really cool.

I have to stop here. I will update you all again.... maybe will beef up this update later. Take care. Will post the photos up soon.

Dear All,

It has been a month since I updated my blog. So sorry about it. I was really busy with the preparing for a number of events happening within these few weeks.

Firstly, Mrs Yap's Wedding on the 2 Dec 07 - A few of us from the Alumni Band (me, Zhiquan, Juvenal, Shawn, Marilyn, Kenny, Yan Hao, Benjamin and Royston) with the help of Jeffery Ng, played for both her entrances. We played the Wedding march and also "Hero". It was quite an experience. The wedding for extraordinary as we attended our first ever Vegetarian dinner.

Secondly, the preparation for the Hong Kong Trip. I just came back from Hong Kong last Friday. It was interesting, ever though I was down with flu during the trip...sobs. The preparation for the Hong Kong Trip is not an easy one. The members need to wrap their instruments, the percussion instruments need to be dismantled and put in the crates, Jeffery and I have to install the wheels ourselves for the crates, hardwork man, I really hope people will understand how much work we have done. My QM dept which comprised of Tze Huan as the head, Jaslyn and Hairiandy as the assistant also put in their equal share of work as well. Of course not forgetting Jay Han & Royston as well. It was a long process as I need to confirm the travel insurance, instrument insurance and other docus... however, everything has paid off, even though there are some unhappy things that happened during the process. The moment of truth came on the 17th Dec 2007 as we embarked to Hong Kong on a morning flight at 6.50am. We have to reach school at 2.30am for the logistics party and the rest of the members 3am. I will tell all of you the details in my next update which is tomorrow so as not to tired all of you in this long update.

Before that, on the 15th Dec, the Alumni Band has a X'mas gathering where we have games in school. We played some ice-breakers and followed by doge ball and captain ball. After that, we went for dinner at Seoul Garden in Tampines Mall. In conjunction with that, we celebrated Marilyn's birthday as well.

I did not stay long as I need to rush for Xinyi's wedding at Mandarin Hotel. I was caught in the jam miserably. The Orchard traffic was horrible during the festive season. Lucky I managed to reach there. Thanks God. It was a unique dinner as I remember one of the dishes was the famous Chicken rice in a set. Cool right.... During the wedding, we managed to play a trick with Xinyi by calling her to sing in public and also concoct a drink for her. We were so bad...haha!

That's all. I will update all of you soon. Btw, I know that a lot of ppl cannot access my friendster blog http://dav_c.blogs.friendster.com/my_blog/, so I will be duplicate another set in the following blog as well.
